Psychotropic drugs may cause adverse effects to the function of the endocrine system. As the cause of thyroid dysfunction, we report herein three cases of hypothyroidism (hyperthyrotoxicosis, hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism) associated with the use of antidepressants or antipsychotic drugs. The findings indicate that the risk of hypothyroidism is higher in patients using antidepressant or antipsychotic drugs than in those using other psychotropic drugs.// Scicos
